Jodie Herrera, born in Albuquerque and raised in Taos, is deeply intertwined with the essence and culture of New Mexico. Her artistic journey began early, evolving into formal painting in 2011. Graduating from the University of New Mexico with a BFA, Herrera's repertoire spans Photorealistic Oil Painting, Muralism, Illustration, Mixed-Media Art, and Curation.
Her murals serve as vibrant narratives, encapsulating the essence of the spaces they adorn, often shedding light on pertinent social justice issues or honoring impactful individuals relevant to their context.
Recognized as the "Best Visual Artist of 2017" by Albuquerque The Magazine, Herrera's work has graced prestigious venues including The Art and History Museum of Santa Cruz, The Albuquerque Art and History Museum, and The Anderson Museum of Contemporary Arts. Her presence extends to digital platforms like Beautiful Bizarre Magazine, alongside local art hubs such as the Center for Contemporary Arts Santa Fe.
Notably, Bernalillo County proudly hosts Herrera's mural, "Resilience, Transformation, Growth and Joy," at Tiny Home Village, a testament to her commitment to community engagement. Completed in December 2022, residents of Tiny Home Village were invited to participate, fostering a sense of ownership and pride in their shared space.
