Gutierrez-Hubbell House History and Cultural Center at Gutierrez-Hubbell Open Space (6029 Isleta Blvd SW, Albuquerque, NM 87105)
Bernalillo County, the Water Authority, the Arid LID Coalition, and the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District are excited to offer a collaborative exhibit on irrigation efficiency that presents content from the Water Authority’s new Irrigation Efficiency Guide. The exhibit explores historical approaches to irrigation and addresses how to efficiently water different types of landscapes in our region, using drip irrigation, flood irrigation, hose watering, and rainwater harvesting. It includes hands on experiences to help demystify efficient irrigation systems. The exhibit is in English and Spanish.

Workshop One: Tree Irrigation, April 8, 9-11 am
Join us for a hands-on workshop where we will install new irrigation to the trees and shrubs in the Gutiérrez Hubbell House Medicinal Garden. We will cover proper installation of drip lines and in-line drip emitter tubing to deeply and efficiently water large plants.
Workshop Two: Perennial Irrigation, April 15, 9-11 am
Join us for a hands-on workshop where we will install new irrigation to the perennial beds in the Gutiérrez Hubbell House Medicinal Garden. We will cover proper installation of drip lines and in-line drip emitter tubing to efficiently water perennials and grasses.
Workshop Three: Drip Irrigation Fundamentals, April 29, 9-11 am
Join us for a hands-on workshop where you will build a drip system that attaches to your hose faucet. You’ll also learn troubleshooting basics and how to make the most common repairs to a drip system.
For these workshops, you’ll need to be able to squat and work on your knees in the dirt, but it is low-intensity labor. Make sure to bring gloves, a water bottle, hats, and sunscreen.
