 Call for Artwork: Sugar Skull Fun Run 2023
Call for Original Artwork for the Sugar Skull Fun Run. Bernalillo County is seeking original two-dimensional graphical artwork to serve as the official image of the 9th Annual Sugar Skull Fun Run taking place October 2023. An image will be selected to appear on the commemorative t-shirt included with all event registrations, on promotional materials, advertising and social media.
The call for art is open to New Mexico professional and amateur artists of all ages with submissions due by Monday, April 3 at 5 p.m. The winning artist is paid $250, receives a complimentary 10’x10’ booth space at the event to sell and sign artwork, and is celebrated as a key contributor to the success of the beloved annual community event.
“The Sugar Skull Fun Run is a great event, and to have been a part of it, and getting to work with this wonderful community was an amazing honor,” says Spencer Onorato, the creator of the 2022 Sugar Skull Fun Run artwork. “The feeling of seeing so many people wearing my art was incredible and is a memory I will cherish.”
Important Submission Details:
• The call is open to New Mexico-based artists only
• The general theme for artwork is Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead)
• Must be original artwork created and owned by the artist
• Two-dimensional illustrations only such as drawings, paintings or graphic designs
• JPG, TIFF or PDF are the accepted digital formats for submissions
• Photo or sculpture submissions will not be accepted
• Full color and/or black and white designs accepted
• Dimensions: No smaller than 8.5 x 11, no larger than 11 x 17
• Submission Deadline: Monday, April 3, 2023, 5 p.m.
• $250 awarded to the selected artist
