County Behavioral Health Committees Need Members
The Bernalillo County Office of Criminal Justice and Behavioral Health Initiatives is seeking new members for a variety of committees that work in conjunction with the Behavioral Health Initiative (BHI).
The committees of the BHI provide input and technical assistance for creating a regional behavioral health care system. Committees are comprised of community members with a direct experience and knowledge of behavioral health issues, either as individuals with lived experience, family members, or other related behavioral health community-based interest, subject matter experts that are professionals with behavioral health, housing, criminal justice, or related expertise and technical advisors to provide authoritative background literature, studies and data on particular projects brought before each subcommittee that may be helpful in the vetting process. New committee members will continue the work of the existing committee members.
The subcommittees are advisory with a priority of representing the community and providing input and guidance to BHI staff. Committees will prioritize how the Behavioral Health Initiative funding will be spent in four areas: crisis services, prevention intervention and harm reduction services, supportive housing, and community supports.
The application process is open to individuals who live in the metro and unincorporated areas of Bernalillo County and want to be considered to serve on one of the committees. Interested individuals must be free from conflicts of interest such as employment or board members of entities planning to apply for funding from the Behavioral Health Initiative.
To apply, email a resume and cover letter to bhinitiative@bernco.com by Sept. 9 at 5 p.m.
