The “Take a Ride on Us” campaign is offering 500 rides beginning on Friday, Feb. 25 at noon through Wednesday, March 2 at 3 a.m. Participants can redeem the Uber code BEADS22 to get the discount. Each code will provide a credit of up to $15 off two trips. The credit can only be used for rides, and not Uber Eats, and the discount doesn’t cover tip.
“Take A Ride on Us” is the creation of Cumulus Media Albuquerque. The program has seen massive success through the incredible partnership of Uber, Bernalillo County, the New Mexico Department of Transportation’s ENDWI campaign, and Ron Bell Injury Lawyers.

Are you paying your Bernalillo County property taxes on a monthly pre-payment plan?
Here’s what you need to know:
The 2021 monthly payment program ends in March.
In early May, we’ll send you all the information for the new 2022 pre-payments such as the yearly agreement to sign and return to us and the payment coupons. It’s that easy and there is no service fee for this program!
We will estimate the 2022 taxes and break them into 10 monthly payments. The first 9 payments will equal 10% of the total tax estimate and the final payment will be the remaining balance.

State of New Mexico Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management Congratulates Bernalillo County on New Hazard Mitigation Plan
Last month, the New Mexico Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (DHSEM) notified Bernalillo County and participating jurisdictions that the county’s latest Hazard Mitigation Plan had been approved by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). This plan is a FEMA requirement that must be updated every five years for the county to remain eligible for certain federal disaster assistance. With this approval, Bernalillo County and jurisdictions within the county can continue to seek federal funding through FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA) program, and they will remain eligible through 2026.
This plan represents a joint effort from Bernalillo County, the City of Albuquerque, the Village of Tijeras, the Village of Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District, the Albuquerque Metropolitan Arroyo Flood Control Authority, and the Albuquerque/Bernalillo County Water Authority, among other partners.

Local property owners, businesses and citizens are being invited to nominate possible brownfield sites in the unincorporated areas of the county that may qualify to be transformed from liabilities into community assets through a $600,000 grant awarded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). A brownfield site is a property where development, expansion, or reuse may be complicated by the presence, or potential presence, of a hazardous substance, pollutant, or contaminant.
The grant will be used to assess selected properties initially in unincorporated Bernalillo County, and if funding is available, other locations in Bernalillo County could be considered, including within Albuquerque city limits. Information, including fact sheets, a site assessment guide, brownfield site examples, FAQs, and a site nomination form are available at: https://www.bernco.gov/economic-development/brownfields-program/.

This is an exciting program open to children of all reading levels.
Reading to animals gives children an opportunity to gain confidence and practice their reading skills, while comforting our shelter animals.
During the half hour session, readers will work one-on-one with an adult or parent/guardian to practice their reading skills.
Each participant will then get to choose the pet from a provided list that they would like to read to for their session. A trained adult volunteer and parent/guardian will always accompany them.
