 This past Saturday, Willingboro Township celebrated the renaming of Sportsman Field to Lizzie Morris Memorial Park, commemorating the extraordinary contributions of Lizzie Mae Morris to the community. The event included a heartfelt ribbon-cutting ceremony and unveiled the park’s new sign, symbolizing her enduring legacy.
Lizzie Mae Morris was a pillar of Willingboro and a tireless advocate for civic engagement. From founding the Police Athletic League to serving on the Zoning Board and the Willingboro Environmental Commission, her dedication to mentoring youth, feeding families in need, and uplifting her community left an indelible mark. Lizzie worked passionately to ensure voter engagement and political participation, earning numerous honors throughout her life.
Remarks were shared by Deputy Mayor Anderson, Councilwoman Perrone, family, Mayor Emeritus Johnson, Mayor Emeritus Nock, Township Manager Dwayne M. Harris, and Deputy Manager Gary B. Lawery III.
