Active Shooter Incident Management
(ASIM) Advanced
A delivery of the Active Shooter Incident Management (ASIM)- Advanced course is being offered as part of the New Jersey Standardized Active Violent Event Response (NJ SAVER) program. NJ SAVER is a joint program initiative of the New Jersey State Police, NJ Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness, NJ Department of Corrections, NJ Division of Fire Safety, and NJ Office of Emergency Medical Services. The course is funded by NJ SAVER principal organizations. There is NO-COST for participants to attend this three-day training course.
The goal of NJ SAVER is to provide first responders a suite of training courses to standardize response to active threat incidents statewide, across disciplines and jurisdictions, in order to more effectively eliminate the threat, reduce the loss of life, and efficiently reunite impacted parties should an event take place within the confines of the State. Active Shooter Incident Management is the program’s foundational course and utilizes the National Tactical Officers Association endorsed Active Shooter Incident Management Checklist. Tactical training for law enforcement, Rescue Task Force (RTF) courses for Fire and EMS, and Reunification training round out the suite of courses included in NJ SAVER.
Course Description
Active Shooter Incident Management Advanced is a 3-day comprehensive course using the ASIM Checklist integrated response process with eleven hands-on exercises (using the multi-responder NIMSProTM 3D Simulation System). The course is appropriate for all ranks of law enforcement, fire, EMS, and dispatch. The course provides hands-on incident management experience for street responders and leaders alike. Participants are trained to integrate and manage a multi-discipline response to a full range of Active Shooter and hostile event threats, including Complex Coordinated Attack (CCA). The goal is simple — decrease the time to neutralize the threat and get injured to a hospital.
