Description - SEATS AVAILABLE -
The Law Enforcement Active Shooter Emergency Response (LASER) [PER-275] course uses a mixture of classroom presentations, hands-on field training, and practical exercises to enhance the response capabilities of law enforcement officers in order to effectively respond to and stop an active shooter incident. This class aims to provide participants with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to rapidly deploy and neutralize violent offenders during active shooter incidents in order to prevent the loss of innocent lives.
There is no charge for this class.
It is sponsored by The New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness (NJOHSP) and Louisiana State University (LSU). LSU NCBRT/ACE is a nationally recognized center for emergency preparedness and response training and a member of the National Domestic Preparedness Consortium.
All participants registering to attend a National Domestic Preparedness Consortium (NDPC) course attest to arriving at the training site promptly at or before the start time. If circumstances change and prevent attendance, registered participants should report their absence in a timely manner to the point of contact listed below. This will allow for someone from the course waitlist to fill a seat. Low attendance and no-shows adversely impact the State’s ability to schedule future courses. The NDPC has transitioned many courses to digital course materials, including student manuals. To facilitate learning, NDPC’s training partners recommend participants bring their own phones or devices for pre and post testing.
Prerequisites
Students must have a FEMA Student Identification Number (SID) to attend class. To obtain a SID, register online at cdp.dhs.gov/femasid
