Disaster Management for Water and Wastewater Utilities
MGT-343
|
Description
This course provides students with information about the Environmental Protection Agencies (EPA) Response Protocol Toolbox covering necessary steps to be taking during the response and recovery Water and Wastewater Utilities facilities. Participants will be guided through the various issues concerning preparing for, responding to, and recovering from incidents affecting water and/or wastewater facilities. The course introduces the various natural and man-made (accidental or intentional) hazards to which water and wastewater systems may be vulnerable and the potential effects the hazards may induce. Planning for and managing incidents are discussed, as well as disaster mitigation, response and recovery specific to drinking water and wastewater systems. Individuals who complete this course in combination with MGT317, MGT341, and MGT345 are eligible for the TEEX Infrastructure Disaster Management Program Certificate.
There is no charge for this class.
It is sponsored by The New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness (NJOHSP) and Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX), a member of the National Domestic Preparedness Consortium.
All participants registering to attend a National Domestic Preparedness Consortium (NDPC) course attest to arriving at the training site promptly at or before the start time. If circumstances change and prevent attendance, registered participants should report their absence in a timely manner to the point of contact listed below. This will allow for someone from the course waitlist to fill a seat. Low attendance and no-shows adversely impact the State’s ability to schedule future courses. The NDPC has transitioned many courses to digital course materials, including student manuals. To facilitate learning, NDPC’s training partners recommend participants bring their own extension cords and power strips as they will not be provided.
