Skunk cabbage may be stinky, but it sure is amazing! Did you know that it makes its own heat to melt snow or that it's the first flower of the spring? Guided by a naturalist, discover all of this plant's secrets as you hunt for it along the trails. You'll never look at skunk cabbage the same way again! Maple Sugaring Demos

Learn how to identify and tap maple trees, collect sap, and make real maple syrup over a wood-fired evaporator. Finish with a syrup taste test! This program will be held indoors and outdoors, so dress for the weather. Syrup will be available for purchase, while supplies last. Register here

Using our stones as a jumping off point, this homeschool program explores the geology of the Cooper Gristmill Park. Here at the Frelinghuysen Arboretum, we’re crazy about trees! Our Tournament of Trees is in full swing, with 16 incredible contenders competing for the title of this year’s favorite. Homeschool Explorers will have the chance to discover what makes our fabulous trees stand out and get a chance to choose their favorite. Students should dress for the weather and wear comfortable boots. This is a drop-off program. Register here
