Maple Sugaring Demos

March 2 & 3

Learn how to identify and tap maple trees, collect sap, and make real maple syrup over a wood-fired evaporator. Finish with a syrup taste test!

These programs take place indoors and outdoors and registration is encouraged, but not mandatory. If you register ahead of time – it guarantees your spot in the program, but walk-ins are welcome and it is first come, first served seating. Syrup will be available for purchase, while supplies last.

For ages 6 & up, Cost: $6 per person.

Make Your Own Butter

Join us for this complete butter making workshop. We will make butter in the Crazy Daisy butter churns, then you will select the ingredients for flavored butter (salt or fruit). Enjoy some butter and biscuits and take the rest home! Register here.

Cache-ing for Gold

Geocaching is a great outdoor activity for families! Use a GPS unit or cell phone and a map to locate hidden treasures, called “caches" that contain extra special St. Patrick’s-themed prizes. All materials are provided. Register here.

Recipes Remedies and Rituals at the Morris Museum

Exhibition on view-Ongoing-until April 2024

Explore selections of bound printed and manuscript works of collaboration and the exchange of botanical information defining the relationship between humans and the natural world.

They also include personalized herbal recipes, medical remedies, and gardening rituals. These literary conversations reveal confidence in encyclopedic narratives and expectations that locally sourced old and new plant varieties were beneficial for mind, body, and soul.

Come visit the museum and get a glimpse of this rare historic display of botanical knowledge from the archives of Morris County Park Commission.
