Monmouth County Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon Pays Tribute to Our Fallen Heroes
On Memorial Day, we honor the men and women who bravely served in our military and have paid the ultimate sacrifice for the safety of our country. We remember the reason for this holiday weekend and pay homage and express our gratitude to the service members who worked courageously to secure peace throughout the world.
“Memorial Day is a time for every resident to honor the valor and selflessness of every service member," said Clerk Hanlon. "In these unprecedented times, when we are unable to physically gather as a community, it is important for all of us to take time to reflect on the American values exemplified through the bravery and strength of these American heroes.”
Although it's been more than 150 years since the first Memorial Day was established, originally known as Decoration Day in 1868, the significance and importance of this day remain paramount in our world today.

Beaches will be Open, but
“Know Before You Go”
The arrival of the Memorial Day weekend marks the unofficial start of the summer season, when typically droves of residents and visitors make plans to head to the beach. At a recent press conference held in Belmar, the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders advised beach goers to "Know Before You Go," which emphasizes the importance of researching badge sales, parking information and other restrictions before traveling to their destinations.
“Monmouth County has some of the finest beaches and shore towns in New Jersey which accounted for more than 8 million visitors last summer.” said Clerk Hanlon. “I am pleased to know the beaches will be open for the 2020 summer season. The Freeholders' message “Know Before You Go” is one that will help to ensure the continued good health of residents, visitors and employees."
