Important Notice: Passport Services are Not Affected by the Partial Government Shutdown
Please be advised that passport processing is not affected by the ongoing partial government shutdown. The U.S. Department of State continues to offer U.S. passport books and passport cards at all passport agencies and acceptance facilities, such as County Clerk's Offices, during the lapse of appropriations.
Passport processing times remain at 4 to 6 weeks for routine service and 2 to 3 weeks for expedited service.
Reminder to Apply for Passports Well In Advance of your Travel Date!
Although the cold weather is upon us in Monmouth County, now is the time to plan for spring travel. With spring break just a few months away, County Clerk Hanlon is reminding everyone to check their passports for expiration dates. If you are planning spring travel out of the country, it is important to remember that many countries require six months validity on a U.S. passport.
Spring break is one of the most popular times of year to travel. By applying for a passport now, travelers will save themselves the aggravation of rushing to get a passport, and will also save money by not having to expedite service.
In addition, to take advantage of travel deals, it is essential to have a valid passport since airlines may require a valid passport number when booking international flights.
Passport Services are available at our three offices in Freehold, Neptune, and Eatontown. Our Neptune Monmouth County Connection location has convenient evening and weekend hours.
