The Monmouth County Health Department (MCHD) hosts rabies
clinics throughout the county during the year.
In 2017, clinics will be held in the following locations:*

Christopher Merkel Appointed to NJACCHO
 MCHD's Public Health Coordinator and Health Officer Christopher Merkel was sworn into the Executive Board of the NJ Association of County and City Health Officials (NJACCHO). NJACCHO advances the art and science of public health, and ensures conditions that promote health, prevent disease and protect the health of the state’s population through leadership, advocacy, collaboration and the assurance of workforce competencies.

March is Colorectal Awareness Month
Colorectal cancer is the fourth most common cancer in the United States and the second leading cause of death from cancer. Colorectal cancer affects people in all racial and ethnic groups and is most often found in people age 50 and older.
The good news? If everyone age 50 and older were screened regularly, 6 out of 10 deaths from colorectal cancer could be prevented. Communities, health professionals, and families can work together to encourage people to get screened.
March 24 is World TB Day
This year's theme is “Unite to End TB.” Many organizations,
including the CDC, are working diligently to provide outreach and eliminate
this disease. Visit the CDC’s site.
MCHD's TB clinic focuses on the
screening, prevention and control of active and latent tuberculosis in adults
and children. By providing continuous education and clinical treatment to residents as well as support to local hospitals and medical
facilities, the TB clinic joins in the global
effort to combat tuberculosis as we “Unite to End TB.”
 The MCHD partners with Jersey Shore University Medical Center to provide comprehensive Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) diagnostic and treatment services. In 2015, 1284 clients were seen and over 2000 visits were made to the clinic. Services are FREE for residents of municipalities that contract with MCHD for daily health services
