Is it a cold or the flu?

It is easy to confuse the flu just as a "bad cold." The flu, however, is a disease of the lungs and it can have serious complications. The flu can produce severe symptoms that prevent those affected from carrying on with daily activities.

It's not too late to get a flu shot!

The Monmouth County Health Department (MCHD) will be hosting two flu shot clinics during the first week of December: 

  • At the Childhood Immunization Clinic on Monday, Dec 5 from 9-11 a.m. at 3000 Kozloski Rd, Freehold. Free for families without insurance; $25.00 charge for others.  Call for insurance details and to make an appointment at 732-431-7456 ext. 8516.
  • At the Adult Immunization Clinic on Tuesday, Dec. 6 from 9:00 a.m. - noon. There is a $25.00 charge. The clinic is located at 3435 Route 9 Freehold

Monmouth County flu activity monitoring

To date, this year our influenza surveillance is showing low Influenza-like illness activity. This is not unusual as, Jan. and Feb. are usually the most active flu times. Act now! Get a flu shot.

Health Department Meetings

The Board of Health conducts meetings on the third Tuesday of each month, at the County Health Department offices at 3435 Route 9, Freehold. Meetings begin at 7 p.m.
