QUALIFICATIONS: Direct Support Professional (DSP/HHA/CNA) perform caregiving tasks and must complete and pass all required Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) including those for Medication Administration on line classes, pass urine drug screen prior to hire as well as random, and for cause checks; pass State of New Jersey fingerprint background check initially and annual recheck; pass State of New Jersey Child Abuse Record Information CARI check and any other additional DDD requirements. If post hire and upon recheck, DSP/HHA/CNA is found to be disqualified by the Department of Human Services, DSP will be terminated. Must be 18 years of age and have valid CPR and First Aid Certification and provide same to supervisor prior to hiring, and upon request. High school diploma or equivalent. Must agree to have their name checked against the Central Registry of Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities as per NJ State regulations

REQUIRED DUTIES: DSP/HHA/CNA support residents in their home. Work duties may include, but are not limited to, cleaning incontinent residents, bed bath, shaving, monitoring skin integrity, doing resident laundry correctly, folding and hanging clean clothing and putting it away neatly; preventing infection and skin breakdown; cleaning bathrooms, cleaning kitchens, and making sure personal space remains clean; moving residents safely without causing harm to them or yourself, feeding residents, assisting with exercise, transferring residents safely using a Hoyer lift, providing emotional support, monitoring and recording intake and output, taking vital signs, supervising self administration of medication, administering medication, completing communication logs, and documenting care, serve meals and clean up in the dining room, and additional responsibilities as instructed. Staff must report any issues immediately to their supervisor.

All DSP/HHA/CNA must have a valid driver’s license (if applicable) to transport individuals Ability to communicate with residents and coworkers in English Ability to clearly write in English Ability to properly use universal precautions Ability to safely transfer elderly and disabled persons Ability to use a Hoyer lift Ability to prepare and serve meals using Servsafe protocol Ability to reheat foods and properly use a microwave Ability to wash dishes thoroughly by hand as well as properly use a dishwasher Ability to take and record food temperatures and temperatures of appliances Ability to clean, sweep, and mop dining room Ability to clean bathrooms, kitchens, apartments Ability to properly wash clothes following label directions, neatly fold, put away clean clothing Ability to changing wound dressings after being instructed to do so by the RN Ability to safely weigh residents and record weights properly, at least monthly.
