Mercer County Clerk’s Office Announces Free Veteran IDs for Veterans Day
TRENTON --In honor of Veterans Day, Mercer County Clerk Paula Sollami Covello is pleased to announce that free Veteran ID Cards will be available to all eligible veterans residing in Mercer County. From Monday, November 4, through Friday, November 15, veterans can visit the Mercer County Clerk’s Office at 209 South Broad Street in Trenton to receive a personalized Veteran ID Card, free of charge.
“Veterans have dedicated themselves to protecting our freedoms, and in Mercer, we are grateful for the opportunity to give back to them,” said Mercer County Clerk Paula Sollami Covello. “Providing these Veteran ID cards is a small gesture to honor their service and ensure they receive the recognition and benefits they deserve.”
The Veteran ID Card serves as proof of veteran status, which can be used to access discounts at participating businesses and to access veteran services and benefits throughout Mercer County. To obtain a card, veterans must present their original DD-214 form (indicating an honorable discharge) and proof of Mercer County residency.
Veterans can also record their DD-214 form free of charge at the Clerk's Office. “Because military papers can get damaged or lost, veterans should take advantage of the opportunity to file copies of their DD-214 discharge papers with the Clerk’s Office,” said Sollami Covello. “If a copy of discharge papers is needed in the future, a veteran, an immediate family member, or a legally recognized representative of their estate may obtain a copy with proper identification.”
For more information, please contact the Mercer County Clerk’s ID Office at 609-278-7108 or visit our website here. 209 South Broad Street, Trenton, 2nd floor; office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM. Appointments are not necessary.
