County Executive Benson Celebrates Opening of New Taxiway at Trenton-Mercer Airport

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, June 25th, 2024

Ribbon

Ewing, NJ – Today Mercer County Executive Dan Benson and elected officials from Mercer County held a ribbon cutting to mark the opening of the recently completed Parallel Taxiway Delta at Trenton-Mercer Airport.

The construction of the Parallel Taxiway Delta creates safer, more efficient, taxiway for aircraft to enter the runway. The taxiway was completed over several construction seasons and paid for using a combination of State, Federal and County funds.

By running the taxiway parallel to the main runway, the design allows for direct entry to the runway reducing “hot spots” and safety concerns caused by runway crossover. The design and completion bring the taxiway into compliance with Federal Aviation Administration’s standards.

“The things we’ve done at the airport are all about making passengers’ flying experience better and safer, while creating the capacity to have more flights and more good experiences here at Trenton Mercer Airport,” said County Executive Dan Benson. “We’re excited for Trenton-Mercer to continue moving forward as an essential transportation hub in our region.”
