OFFICE ON AGING/ADRC ANNOUNCEMENTS

Disability Rights New Jersey is the state’s designated Protection and Advocacy agency under federal law. The agency advances the human, civil, and legal rights of those living with disabilities and promotes their self-determination, independence, productivity, and integration into all facets of community life. To ensure that its limited resources are used to address issues of importance to people living with disabilities, the agency is seeking input (via this survey) from people living with disabilities, their families, professionals, health care and service providers, and the general public, to guide in determining its areas of focus for the next three years. Disability Rights New Jersey greatly appreciates your time and attention in completing this survey. 2022 Call for Proposals  The Princeton Area Community Foundation is offering the opportunity for nonprofits to seek funding for five of its grantmaking programs in one consolidated process.  This Call for Proposals opened May 10, 2022, and will be available until June 20, 2022.  Learn more here.

Advisory from the NJ Poison Control Center Driving While High Is Illegal - Whether enjoying the day in a local park or taking a drive far from home, be sure you’re not driving while impaired. With the recent legalization of marijuana/cannabis sales in New Jersey, the NJ Poison Control Center reminds drivers that legal medicines and substances can make driving unsafe.

The "Bag Up NJ" campaign is the New Jersey Clean Communities Council’s new single use plastic and paper bag ban outreach campaign, which has a simple message: Bring your own reusable bag(s) when you shop.

This campaign educates and reminds consumers about their options for sustainability at the checkout counter. Consumers can bring their own reusable bags when they shop and recycle their plastic bags.

The Mercer County Department of Human Services fosters a comprehensive human service delivery system that enhances the health, safety, and quality of life for all residents of Mercer County. The department's goal is to create an environment of public trust by empowering and strengthening individuals and families, advocating for sound policy, mobilizing resources, and acting as champions for those citizens who are most vulnerable and in need of services.

Through its offices and divisions, the Department of Human Services provides funding to community-based organizations for those organizations to provide direct services to Mercer County residents. The department does not provide direct services to Mercer County residents, but directs Mercer County residents to where they can access services. With this funding, the Department of Human Services complies with procurement practices in accordance with the New Jersey Public Contracts Law 40:A:11-1 et seq.
