Traffic Advisory: Bear Tavern Road resurfacing

County to resurface sections of Bear Tavern Road
in Ewing, Hopewell townships

Due to deteriorated pavement surface conditions, Bear Tavern Road (County Route 579) from Maddock Road in Hopewell Township to Scenic Drive in Ewing Township is scheduled for milling and resurfacing. Work will commence on or about Monday, March 21, with an anticipated completion time of approximately four weeks, weather permitting.

Roadwork and detours will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Access will be permitted for local businesses, residents, and service and emergency vehicles. Work will be completed in three phases:

Phase One: Milling and paving the section of Bear Tavern Road between Jacobs Creek Road and Maddock Road in Hopewell Township. During this time, Bear Tavern Road will be closed to through traffic. A detour will be posted directing motorists to use Nursery Road, Scotch Road, Washington Crossing Road and Jacobs Creek Road.

Phase Two: Milling and paving Bear Tavern Road from Nursery Road to Jacobs Creek Road in Ewing Township. Again, Bear Tavern Road will be closed to through traffic with motorists directed to use Nursery Road, Scotch Road, Washington Crossing Road and Jacobs Creek Road.

Phase Three: Milling and paving Bear Tavern Road between Nursery Road and Scenic Drive in Ewing Township. During this time, traffic on Bear Tavern Road will be maintained at all times with half-road closures and single-lane direction traffic. Please note that during staged operation, motorists may experience delays.
