Employee COVID-19 Test Schedule for March

Mercer County is offering free testing to all County employees who wish to be tested for the novel coronavirus, COVID-19.  The COVID-19 test consists of a nasal (or nasopharyngeal) swab test which will be administered by a trained technician from Atlantic Diagnostic Laboratories (ADL) by sticking a long Q-tip-like swab into one or both nostrils to collect a sample. You may feel some slight discomfort during or after the test, but the discomfort should not last more than a few minutes. The COVID-19 test being administered detects if you currently have the virus. It does not test for immunity or antibodies.

COVID-19 testing will be at the rear of the Cure Arena, Gate C, located at  Hamilton Avenue and Route 129, near the electronic CURE marquee on:

  • Thurs., March 11, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Thurs., March 18, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Thurs., March 25, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Testing will be by appointment only.  Parking will be provided across the street from the Cure Arena in Parking Lot #1. Appointments can be made by contacting Melissa Ocasio in the Mercer County Office of Personnel via e-mail at mocasio@mercercounty.org. Please include your home address and cell phone number in your e-mail for contact tracing purposes.

The results from your test will be sent to the Office of Personnel electronically within 1-2 business days. A copy of the results will be placed in your medical file and will be made available to you should you wish to have a copy.

  • If you test positive:

A representative from Robert Wood Johnson Occupational Health Facility will contact you to notify you of your results and answer any medical-related questions you may have. You will be instructed to remain home to isolate for 10 calendar days.  After 10 days, you may return to work as long as you do not exhibit any COVID-19 related illness. The Department of Health will also be notified of your results so that they may begin contact tracing.

If you begin to experience COVID-19 related symptoms during your isolation period, please reach out to your primary care physician for further instruction. You must also contact the Office of Personnel to notify us as you will have to provide us with a doctor’s note to remain out of work past the 10-day isolation period.

You may be eligible for two weeks’ pay under the Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act (EPSLA) provided you have not already exhausted your allotment. Any time taken past the two weeks will be charged against your accrued time.

  • If you test negative:

A representative from our office will reach out to notify you of your negative results.

Due to the high volume of staff being tested, your appointment time cannot be changed unless absolutely necessary. If you are unable to attend your appointment at the designated time, please contact our office as soon as possible.

Please feel free to reach out to our office at (609) 989-6676 or via e-mail at mocasio@mercercounty.org with any questions and/or concerns.
