Tax volunteers sought; virtual info sessions Nov. 4 and 17

Volunteer from Home

United Way of Greater Mercer County is seeking volunteers to be a part of the free tax program. The program serves working families and individuals who make less than $65,000 a year in Mercer County.

Last year, volunteers prepared more than 1,300 free tax returns that provided total refunds of $1.9 million. Struggling families use the savings from tax preparation fees and refunds to cover food, housing, medical, transportation and debt expenses.

No prior tax experience is required. Free IRS training begins in December (virtual and in-person option). Tax returns may be prepared virtually. College students can earn course credits and tax professionals can earn Continuing Education Credits.

Attend a free virtual information session and learn more:
Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 1 p.m. OR 6 p.m.
• Tuesday, Nov. 17, at 1 p.m. OR 6 p.m.

To register, email Carrie Pabreza at carrie.pabreza@uwgmc.org or call 609-896-1912.
