IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM CLERK REGARDING DATE EXTENSION FOR 2020 FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE STATEMENT

RE: Extension of Filing 2020 Financial Disclosure Statement
Mercer County Clerk Paula Sollami Covello announced that the Financial Disclosure Statement Filing deadline has been extended to July 31, 2020 for those on the list required to file. The State notified the County Clerk by e-mail on Monday, April 27 that in light of the circumstances surrounding COVID-19, the Local Finance Board, at its meeting of April 22, 2020, voted to extend the date of the 2020 FDS until July 31, 2020 from the statutory deadline of April 30, 2020. After that date, however, enforcement action may be taken against individuals for non-compliance.
Those that are required to file are notified of this responsibility by the County Clerk’s Office each year in late March or early April that they are on the list. The list for Mercer County is determined by the Mercer County Counsel’s Office and forwarded to the County Clerk annually. All employees are not required to file as it only applies to director level, or appointed employees and board and commission members generally. If an employee did not receive an e-mail from SOrtiz@mercercounty.org this year, then that individual would not be required to file a Financial Disclosure Statement.
For those employees that have already filed, they are now compliant and have no reason to re-file. The County Clerk was advised that the State Local Finance Board, “appreciates and recognizes the dedication of local government officers and employees during this difficult time.”
