Mercer County Correction Center to hold mock escape drill
TRENTON—Don’t be alarmed if you see law enforcement activity near the Mercer County Correction Center on Route 29 in Hopewell Township on Friday, March 15. The hunt for an “escaped inmate” will be a routine training exercise that simulates a search and capture.
During the exercise, the Correction Center’s Emergency Response Team will work with the New Jersey Department of Corrections’ Special Operations Group K-9 Unit to track and apprehend the “escapee.” Local law enforcement agencies have been informed about the drill, and will be notified again upon its completion.
