Cimino Unanimously Approved to Chair Board in 2019

On Friday, January 4, the Mercer County Board of Chosen Freeholders ushered in 2019 by holding their annual Reorganization Meeting and selected new leadership for the upcoming year. 

Freeholder John A. Cimino of Hamilton, who served as the Board’s Vice-Chair in 2018, was unanimously chosen to serve as board Chairman.  2019 will mark Cimino’s 10th year as a Freeholder and his second term as Board Chairman.

“It’s an honor to be chosen by my colleagues to lead this board in 2019," said Freeholder Cimino. "Every year presents different challenges but I firmly believe this Board is ready to handle any situation put before them.”

Outside the Boardroom: Andrew Koontz

Check out the first article in our new series, Outside the Boardroom, where you will get a better look at what your Freeholders are up to outside the boardroom. Our first article features Vice-Chairman Andrew Koontz, who has often been referred to as the “Fiddlin’ Freeholder.”

While he is currently in his third term as Freeholder, Andrew’s first taste of public service came while volunteering for now Mayor of Trenton Reed Gusciora’s Assembly campaign in 1995.

Freeholders Hold Annual Reorganization Meeting

Freeholders Ann M. Cannon, Pasquale “Pat” Colavita, Jr. and Samuel T. Frisby Sr., who were all re-elected to office, were sworn in by former Mercer County Counsel Arthur Sypek, former Lawrence Township Mayor Gregory Puliti, and Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman, respectively, while newly elected Freeholder Nina D. Melker was sworn in to office by East Windsor Township Mayor Janice Mironov.

“As always, we have many great challenges in front of us in 2019, but I believe as a Board we will continue to provide the citizens of Mercer County with the good government they have grown accustomed to,” said Freeholder Samuel T. Frisby Sr.

Donation Drive

As we begin a new year, many individuals and their families are struggling to make ends meet. With the many challenges a new year brings including the recent government shutdown, individuals are having trouble putting food on the table, gas in their cars, and paying bills. Please join the Mercer County Board of Chosen Freeholders as they hold a countywide donation drive  through February 28. All donations will be donated to various food banks in Mercer County.
