New Jersey Weights & Measures Office issues new inspection stickers
Stickers appear on meters, other devicesĀ
All devices inspected and tested by Weights & Measures receive a sticker to show whether they've been certified. The New Jersey Office of Weights & Measures has issued new inspection stickers that are square rather than round, and are serialized. Mercer County inspectors have started using the new stickers as they test devices.
"Look for the new stickers on gas station meters, grocery store scales and other weighing and measuring devices around Mercer County and throughout the state," said County Executive Brian M. Hughes. A blue sticker means the device has been certified, and guarantees consumers are getting what they pay for. An orange sticker means the device has been deemed to be faulty.
The New Jersey Office of Weights & Measures is creating a web portal where consumers will be able to view inspection reports by using the serial number printed on the new stickers. In the meantime, any questions or concerns regarding a weighing or measuring device can be directed to the Mercer County Division of Consumer Affairs / Weights & Measures at 609-989-6875.
Weights & Measures inspection seals and stickers are issued by the New Jersey Office of Weights & Measures pursuant to N.J.S.A. 51:1-58 (seals and certificates).
