FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 10/16/2018
Mercer County Clerk Encourages Voters to Confirm Their Polling Place on Their Sample Ballot
TRENTON - Mercer County Clerk
Paula Sollami Covello recommends that registered voters carefully
examine their sample ballot for the location of their polling place prior to
voting in the General Election scheduled for Nov. 6, 2018, for potential
location changes. Sample ballots will be mailed to registered voters during the
last week of October and will list the location of each voter’s specific
polling place on the front of the ballot. There are some voters that may
have new polling locations following a State-driven, County Board of Elections
audit.
“We recommend that voters
review the sample ballot that arrives in the mail and take a second look at
their polling location,” said Mercer County Clerk
Paula Sollami Covello. “My office and the two other Mercer County
Election Offices want to see everyone fully participate in voting without
unnecessary confusion.”
Polls are open from 6 a.m. to
8 p.m. on Election Day. If a voter arrives at his designated polling
location and does not find himself in the poll book, the voter may ask poll
workers to vote via a provisional ballot. This is a voter’s right. Extra provisional
ballots will be on site to ensure that no voter is disenfranchised from voting
based on a polling change.
Sample ballots are also
posted on the Mercer County Clerk’s website at http://www.mercercounty.org/government/county-clerk.
However, they do not list your polling location online. For further information
on your polling location, please call the Mercer Board of Elections at (609)
989-6522.
The Mercer County Clerk’s Office will be open late this
evening, Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2018, until 8 p.m., to accept voter registration
applications in time for the Nov. 6 General Election.
Today is the deadline for voter registration in NJ to vote
in the November General Election.
If you are mailing in your registration, please make sure it
bears a postmark with today’s date, in order for you to be registered for the
upcoming election.
