Knock, Knock. Who's There? Maybe ANCHOR.

Person knocking on a door

The ANCHOR Outreach Team is visiting communities to help people file their applications for property tax relief. They will knock on doors six days a week, Monday through Saturday, between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., answering questions about this season's Affordable New Jersey Communities for Homeowners and Renters benefit. The team will wear dark blue vests with yellow lettering identifying them as members of the ANCHOR Outreach Team, as well as yellow ID badges.

If you're not home when the team visits your neighborhood, they will leave officially authorized door hangers with ANCHOR information. ANCHOR eligibility requirements, online application tools, and more information are available 24/7 at ANCHOR.nj.gov.

New Arrivals Can Apply for Authorization to Work

Briefcase

The State of New Jersey is working to expand access to employment for new arrivals to the United States. Certain people that recently arrived in the U.S. are now eligible to apply to legally work — they include, but are not limited to:

  • People paroled into the U.S. through the parole processes for nationals of Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela (CHNV)
  • People who present at a Port of Entry after scheduling a One App appointment from U.S. Customs and Border Patrol and are admitted to the U.S.
  • People who have applied for or received Temporary Protected Status
  • People who have applied for asylum that have had their application pending for at least 150 days

The State has also created new resources for employers interested in hiring recent arrivals.

Fall is in the Air… So Are Respiratory Viruses

Leaves and wind

As we head into cold and flu season, New Jerseyans are encouraged to take precautions to keep themselves and their loved ones healthy.

Basic strategies to prevent the spread of viruses include staying up to date on your vaccinations, washing your hands often, coughing or sneezing into your elbow, and staying home if you're feeling or are sick.

Check with your health care provider to learn how best to protect yourself and your family from the flu, COVID-19 and RSV, especially if you have a weakened immune system.

Find locations offering COVID-19 vaccines on vaccines.gov. Visit NJ.gov/health/vaccines for more information. Free COVID-19 test kits are available from the federal government.
