New Jersey Steps Forward with Reopening

Reopening

As of today, June 4th, all indoor gathering limits are lifted, including the limits on seating at indoor venues with at least 1,000 seats.

As of last Friday, May 28th, businesses were able to open at full capacity. Social distancing is not required, but businesses are encouraged to follow CDC safety guidelines and social distancing. In addition, dance floors at bars, restaurants, and nightclubs may reopen.

Relaxed Requirements in Work Settings

Workplace

Effective today, June 4th, businesses and non-profits will no longer be required to accommodate remote work arrangements and to reduce on-site staff to the minimal number necessary. Employers at indoor worksites that are not open to the public may allow employees who can verify they are fully vaccinated to not wear a face mask and social distance. However, employees at State offices and worksites will continue to be required to wear masks and social distance until further notice. Employers can choose to issue more restrictive policies on masking and social distancing and must continue to follow other safety guidelines, including notifying employees of on-site exposure and performing health screenings of employees entering the workplace.

Don’t Miss Your Second Shot

Vaccination

If you have already received one dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, the second shot increases the vaccine’s effectiveness at preventing COVID-19 to 94%. Two weeks after your second dose, you will be considered fully vaccinated and able to resume activities that you stopped because of the pandemic. Importantly, the second dose is available at sites across New Jersey – regardless of where you received your first dose. Even if you missed your original appointment, it’s not too late!

Commit to becoming fully vaccinated and get your second dose this weekend. Use the Vaccine Appointment Finder to make an appointment for your second dose at any vaccination location or call the NJ vaccine call center at 1-855-568-0545 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. to find out where you can get your second shot today.
