Vaccination Update: Monday Eligibility Expansion

On Monday, April 19th, vaccine eligibility will expand to include all individuals 16 and older who live, work, or study in New Jersey.

As of this week:

  • More than 5.8 million vaccine doses have been administered in New Jersey
  • More than 3.6 million people have received at least one dose
  • More than 2.3 million people are fully vaccinated

Despite this week’s pause in administration of the Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) vaccine, New Jersey remains confident in our ability to fully vaccinate 4.7 million adults by June 30th.

New Financial Help for Health Insurance

Get Covered New Jersey is the State’s official health insurance marketplace that provides access to the resources and financial help you need to find the right coverage. Now, new state and federal financial assistance will help drastically lower health insurance costs for many New Jerseyans. If you are already enrolled, you will likely be able to claim additional savings. If you need coverage, you can explore your options. If you received unemployment compensation in 2021, you may be eligible for nearly free coverage. Enrollment is open through the end of the year but enroll by Friday, April 30th for coverage effective May 1st.

Financial Assistance for Funeral Costs

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought overwhelming grief to many families. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is providing financial assistance for COVID-19-related funeral expenses incurred after January 20th, 2020. Eligibility requirements and assistance information is available on the website. Learn more by visiting the website below then call 1-844-684-6333 to apply.

A new COVID-19 Community Calendar highlights live, virtual community events about 
COVID-19 vaccination in New Jersey. Visit the page to find events that will address your questions and concerns surrounding vaccination. Organizations can submit events on the page which will be reviewed and added to the community calendar by the Department of Health.

How To Get Vaccinated

To get your vaccination, you can do any of the following:

  • Register in the NJ Vaccine Scheduling System to be contacted when you become eligible and to be notified when an appointment is available to you through the Vaccine Scheduling System.
  • If you are currently eligible, schedule an appointment directly with vaccination sites, many of which do not make appointments through the Vaccine Scheduling System. View locations here or try the new Vaccine Appointment Finder (in beta).
  • If you are 65 or older, you can call a special senior hotline at 856-249-7007 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. for vaccination scheduling support. Dedicated appointment slots are reserved for those aged 65 and older. Appointment availability and scheduling varies by location.
