This Week's NJ COVID-19 Updates
Do you have questions about when and where you can receive the COVID-19 vaccine, contact tracing, traveling to or from the State of New Jersey, or even finding a new job? The State of New Jersey offers up-to-date information, resources, and guidance at our COVID-19 Information Hub.
Effective Friday, March 19th, restaurants, recreational and amusement businesses, gyms and fitness centers, and barber shops, salons, and other personal care businesses can increase indoor capacity to 50 percent. In addition, the general outdoor gathering limit will increase to a maximum of 50 people and the general indoor gathering limit will increase to a maximum of 25 people.

As of this week, more than 2.7 million vaccine doses have been administered in New Jersey and more than 1.8 million individuals have received at least one dose. Beginning Monday, March 15th, additional categories of people will be eligible to book vaccine appointments, including transportation workers, migrant farmworkers, members of tribal communities, individuals experiencing homelessness or living in shelters, and more. Additional frontline essential workers will be eligible on Monday, March 29th.

The Motor Vehicle Commission now offers about 75% of transactions online at NJMVC.gov and has expanded appointments available for in-person services. Nearly 30 MVC services are available online, including most renewals for licenses and registration. Before scheduling an appointment, customers should first check to see if their transaction can be completed online. Check out the MVC’s “Cheat Sheet,” a quick guide on how to access services.

New Jersey is rolling out COVID-19 vaccines step-by-step to all people aged 16 and older who live, work, or study in the state. You can get the vaccine regardless of your immigration status and you do not need health insurance to get the vaccine.

Get Covered New Jersey is the State’s official health insurance marketplace that provides access to the resources and financial help you need to find the right coverage. This year, there is more financial help available than ever before. The enrollment window for health insurance is extended until May 15th, 2021, through a COVID-19 Special Enrollment Period for residents who still need coverage. Enroll by March 31st for coverage effective April 1st.

The NJ Department of Health releases a new issue of their vaccine newsletter, Vax Matters, each week. Last Friday’s newsletter included information on targeted outreach by the Department to seniors aged 75 and older, the roll-out of Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine in New Jersey, and eligibility expansion.
