Open Enrollment is Here – What you need to know!
Open enrollment is here!
The Open Enrollment Period for 2026 coverage at Get Covered New Jersey runs from November 1, 2025, to January 31, 2026. This is the only time of the year when you can enroll or change your plan for 2026. After Open Enrollment ends on January 31, you will need to have a qualifying life event to enroll in or change your 2026 plan year coverage.
Get Covered New Jersey is the only place to find financial help for health coverage and eight in 10 people will qualify for savings. All plans offered through GetCovered.NJ.gov cover preventive services, emergency services, prescription drugs, prenatal and pediatric care, and more. No one can be denied coverage due to a pre-existing condition.
New federal changes are impacting how much consumers will pay for coverage in the upcoming plan year. Plans and prices change every year, however, due to federally imposed program updates, many consumers will see health plan costs rise in 2026. Specifically, federal enhanced Premium Tax Credits that have made coverage more affordable for most enrollees since 2021, are expiring. As a result, available federal financial help is drastically decreasing. This will result in higher monthly premiums for many consumers. With the expiration of enhanced premium tax credits for 2026, it is more important than ever that consumers shop early and compare their plan options to find the right plan.
Get Covered New Jersey is here to help you find the plan that fits your life and budget. You can browse 2026 plans using our Shop and Compare tool to estimate your costs and help find the best options for you and your family. If you are an existing consumer, sign in to your Get Covered New Jersey account to ensure your information is up to date, to find how much financial help you may be eligible for, and to shop and compare plans.
What should you do to get ready for Open Enrollment?
Update your application with any household changes, especially changes in income and tax household members. Outdated information could mean you may not get the right amount of financial help, or you may owe money on your 2026 income tax return.
Review your current plan costs and benefits and decide if the plan meets your needs this year.
What if I do not take action during Open Enrollment?
Get Covered New Jersey will automatically update financial help and health plans for most consumers. Look out for notices from Get Covered New Jersey to see what your changes are for 2026. You can update your application starting November 1. However, with new federal regulations, GetCoveredNJ encourages all consumers to log in to their GetCoveredNJ account to review their information and plan options early.
