Walk or Run 250 Miles to Celebrate America’s 250th Birthday!
Celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime milestone! In 2026, the United States turns 250 years old — the Semi-Quincentennial— and we’re marking the occasion with an epic year-long virtual challenge.
Between January 1 and December 31, 2026, we're challenging you to walk or run 250 miles anytime, anywhere by December 31, 2026. That gives you plenty of time to celebrate America's Semiquincentennial in the most energizing way possible!
Whether you're hitting the canal path, your favorite Ewing park, the treadmill, or your neighborhood sidewalk, every mile brings us closer to honoring America's incredible journey since 1776.
Participation is FREE!
Our 250 for 250 Challenge is a virtual walk/run, entirely on the honor system.
What is a Virtual Race?
A virtual race is a race that can be run (or walked) from any location you choose and on any dates that you choose within the given time frame. You can run, jog, or walk on the road, on the trail, on the treadmill, at the gym or on the track (or even at another race). You get to run your own race, at your own pace, and time it yourself. Running and walking on your own, or with friends! Challenge yourself to complete the 250 miles across 2026!

Registration for Ewing 250's Virtual Challenge is now open, and it's completely free to join! Sign up any time before the end of 2026, to start working toward your 250-mile goal. How you hit 250 miles is totally up to you! From grocery runs to evening dog walks, teeing off on the golf course to exploring scenic trails, every step counts.

250 Trees for 250! Take the Pledge
The Ewing Green Team and Environmental Commission have joined forces with the Mayor and Council, local businesses, and residents, to promote an audacious and worthy goal – planting 250 new trees in Ewing!
Our ask: Give America the best birthday gift ever. Plant a tree!
We can’t do it alone. We need your help! To help us achieve our shared dream of a more beautiful, healthy, and environmentally friendly Ewing, we ask that you take a simple but important step: Plant one tree!
It will soon be spring planting time, and we encourage you to let us know of your tree planting plans by taking our PLEDGE TO PLANT a tree in your yard for our 250 Tree Initiative! We urge you to join with us and make your new tree one of the official 250 Trees for America’s 250th! Just click the link to fill out our quick, simple form and become a part of our movement to plant 250 trees in Ewing.

EWING TOWNSHIP – TRASH COLLECTION UPDATE Effective January 7, 2026
Beginning Wednesday, January 7, 2026, Ewing Township will move to a single, township-wide trash collection day: WEDNESDAY. Trash continues to be collected once per week for all residential properties.
What’s Changing?

Current trash days of Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday will move to Wednesday.

Those already collected on Wednesday will see no change.
- IWS will operate 13 collection trucks to service the entire township in one day compared to 3 trucks operating four days a week.

LAST CHANCE! Green Acres Grant Opportunity for Inclusive Playground Public Survey Closes Jan. 1
The Township of Ewing is seeking public input on an opportunity to apply for funding to build a completely inclusive playground adjacent to the new Ewing Senior and Community Center (ESCC).
The playground will be designed to meet Jake's Law standards (New Jersey's regulations for completely inclusive playgrounds) and provide accessible, engaging play opportunities for children and adults of all abilities. The grant opportunity will be funded through the New Jersey Green Acres Program.

Homefront has announced that applications are now being accepted for six 3-bedroom rental units located at 1219-1223 Lower Ferry Road, Ewing Township. These newly constructed homes are available to low- and moderate-income families.

Stories and photos of people who immigrated or migrated to Ewing between 1840 and 1960 are sought by the Ewing Township Historic Preservation Society.
