Ewing recognizes November as Native American Heritage Month
Although Ewing Township was officially established in 1834, the history of the region ranges back thousands of years. In fact, the earliest inhabitants of the land area today known as Ewing Township were the Lenni Lenape Indians. These migratory people ranged throughout New Jersey along the banks of the Delaware River, and the Township’s many creeks provided rich natural resources for hunting, fishing, pottery-making, and simple farming.
The Lenape were a semi-nomadic people who practiced hunting, fishing, pottery-making, and simple farming, cultivating crops such as corn, squash, and beans. Their activities in the Ewing area focused on utilizing the rich natural resources provided by the local woodlands and waterways.
The Lenape referred to their homeland, which encompassed all of New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania, southeastern New York, and northeastern Delaware, as "Lenapehoking". The specific band in the Trenton/Ewing area was likely the Axion band, identified as the largest tribe on the Delaware River in the mid-17th century.

Knights of Columbus “Coats for Kids” Program
Ewing Council #3756 is helping to provide warmth to needy young children by participating in the Knights of Columbus “Coats for Kids” program. The goal of the “Coats for Kids” program as well as our goal is to ensure that needy children in our Parishes and surrounding communities will have their own winter coat.
A donation of just $20.00 will purchase one coat and go a long way in reaching our goal. Think about that smile on the children’s faces when they receive a warm winter coat for this winter.
Any business owner (name to appear in Church Bulletin) or parishioner who may also wish to participate should do so by sending a check made payable to the Ewing Knights of Columbus Council 3756 and mail to: Coats for Kids, Knights of Columbus Ewing Council #3756, PO Box 76, Ewing NJ, 08628
