Exclusive Advance Screening of new Ken Burns Documentary The American Revolution
Thursday, Oct. 23, 7 to 8:30 p.m., Washington Crossing Historic Park Visitor Center, 1112 River Road, Washington Crossing, Pa.
The Friends of Washington Crossing Park, in partnership with the Princeton Battlefield Society, are proud to present an exclusive advance screening highlights from The American Revolution, a highly anticipated new PBS documentary series from Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein, and David Schmidt.
Guests will enjoy a 45-minute curated preview reel from the series, introduced by Director Sarah Botstein, followed by a panel discussion moderated by Jennifer Martin, Executive Director of the Friends of Washington Crossing Park. The discussion will explore how documentary filmmakers, reenactors, and living-history interpreters collaborate to bring the Revolutionary era to life. The evening will conclude with an audience Q&A.
Tickets are $20 for members of the Friends of Washington Crossing Park and the Princeton Battlefield Society, and $40 for general admission. Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Reserve your spot now.

Free Sky Observing Night
Friday, Oct. 24, 6 p.m. New Jersey State Museum , 205 W State St, Trenton.
Start at the Planetarium for a special extended star talk at 6 p.m. on what is visible in the night sky that evening, with an extra focus on deep sky objects that are observable with telescopes. After the star talk ends around 7:15 p.m., we will drive to Washington Crossing State Park where the Amateur Astronomer’s Association of Princeton has the Simpson Observatory. There, we will use the historic telescopes maintained by the club to view the objects we discussed. In the event viewing conditions are poor we'll stay at the Planetarium for a free showing of our new show "Spark: The Universe in Us."

 Fall Foliage Rides and Baseball Rematch
Saturday, Oct. 25, 10 a.m., Howell Living History Farm, 70 Woodens Lane, Lambertville. See the fall colors on display in Pleasant Valley as you take a wagon ride around the farm. A great event for those leaf peepers in your life! Also on deck is a rematch of the "old-time baseball" game played by 1864 rules between the Logan Club of Lambertville and the Newtown Strakes.

Fall 2025 Lantern Tours

Learn about the Crossing during the time of day it actually occurred by taking a Lantern Tour of Washington Crossing Historic Park this fall! Tours will take place every Friday and Saturday in October at 6:30 and 7:30 PM. They will include a living history presentation on the conditions the men would have faced the night of the Crossing. This tour lasts about 1 hour and covers the conditions and history of the crossing, as well as the three battles that follow it, the battles of Trenton and the Battle of Princeton.

Tour de Towpath, D&R Canal Watch

Walking, running, and cycling activities in annual celebration of the D&R Canal Park. Non-competitive half-marathon run/walk 13 round trip miles to Washington Crossing State Park and a 5K fun run/walk to Lower Ferry Road and back. 50-mile bicycle route to Colonial Park in Franklin Township and back and a 20-mile ride to Princeton's Turning Basin Park. The Capital Philharmonic of New Jersey (CPNJ) proudly presents the world premiere of Oh God…Beautiful Machine, a monumental symphonic jazz work which wrestles with the conundrum of loving the earth in a time of climate change. The collaboration features text composed by Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Yusef Komunyakaa and music composed by Princeton University Composer-in-Residence, Vince di Mura.
Combining a full orchestra, jazz ensemble, traditional Chinese instrumentalists, and a women’s chorus, Oh God…Beautiful Machine is a genre-defying musical odyssey spanning ten movements and nearly 90 minutes. Featuring lyrics in multiple languages and influences from jazz, blues, samba, gospel, and folk traditions from around the world, this ambitious work bridges cultural and musical landscapes in a profound meditation on the environment, gratitude, and the human experience.
The evening will begin with a festival style event starting at 6:00 PM with a pre-concert performance, visual works by local artists, vendors and a lecture by the composer starting at 6:45 PM. The concert will be followed by a VIP reception open to Capital Philharmonic season subscribers, advertisers and sponsors.

Sunday Stewardship is a monthly volunteer event where community members work alongside our Stewardship Team to restore native plant communities, create healthy ecosystems, and ensure clean water for all. Tasks may include: • Removing invasive plants • Maintaining deer protection • Planting native species
Anyone can volunteer. We encourage families to work together. Ages 15-16 must be able to work independently with adult supervision. Ages 12-14 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Peak foliage in central New Jersey hits at around the end of October! Come for one of the best autumn views in the State of New Jersey. Join park staff at the Goat Hill Preserve in Lambertville for a fall hike starting from the main parking lot of the preserve, at the end of George Washington Road, at 10 am. This outing will walk about a mile and a half on somewhat uneven trails. Fun for all ages!

2025 New Jersey History Conference
