EWING 250!
America's 250th birthday is coming in 2026!
As we approach the 250th anniversary of the United States of America, Ewing Mayor Bert H. Steinmann invites the entire Ewing community to join in commemorating this historic milestone with reflection, gratitude, and civic pride.
Through community events, educational programs, cultural showcases, and acts of public service, the Ewing 250 celebration aims to honor not just our past, but the people and partnerships that continue to shape our future.
We encourage you take part in this once-in-a-generation opportunity to come together as neighbors and citizens, united by history, inspired by progress, and hopeful for what’s to come. I invite you to visit the Ewing 250 addition to our website, and to submit your 250th Anniversary events for inclusion in our Ewing 250 Calendar!

Plant a Tree in Ewing for America’s 250th Birthday
It’s not too early to get started!
In celebration of the United States’ 250th birthday, the Ewing Green Team and Environmental Commission have joined forces with the Mayor and Council, local businesses, and residents, to promote an audacious and worthy goal – planting 250 new trees in Ewing!
Our ask: Give America the best birthday gift ever. Plant a tree!
We can’t do it alone. We need your help! To help us achieve our shared dream of a more beautiful, healthy, and environmentally friendly Ewing, we ask that you take a simple but important step: Plant one tree!
DID YOU KNOW that Ewing’s tree canopy cover is low compared to the average statewide in New Jersey? (27.4% vs. 40%)
OUR GOAL: to inspire 250+ Ewing residents, businesses, and organizations to plant or pledge to plant at least 250 trees in town. This can be on your own property or by donating to plant a tree in one of Ewing’s parks and public lands.
Check out our list of suggested tree species to plant, sign your pledge to plant a tree between this fall and the end of 2026, and learn more at: ewingnj.org/plant-a-tree-in-ewing-for-america-s-250th-birthday

An Early Reminder about the Rules for Leaf Collection
Ewing has a scheduled period of loose leaf collection during the months of November and December to simplify and expedite the process of leaf collection for residents.
Yard waste must be containerized for collection at the curb any time outside this scheduled collection window. November and December are a leaf only period and residents must comply with this policy to ensure the program’s success. Code violations may be issued for containerizing or co-mingling brush & yard waste with loose leaves.
All curbside brush collection will cease beginning:
- 10/20/25 for Zone 2
- 10/27/25 for Zone 1
This will be the last regularly scheduled curbside brush collection until March 2026.
Brush, such as branches and trimmings, can be placed at the curb March through October.
Curbside leaf collection
Public Works will strictly be collecting loose leaves by zone every other week beginning 11/3/25 starting with Zone 2.
Each zone should expect 5 separate weekly collections every other week. Please place leaves at curb the Saturday or Sunday prior to scheduled collection week. Loose leaves placed at curb longer than 7 days will be subject to code enforcement penalties.
Week of:
- 11/3/25-Zone 2
- 11/10/25- Zone 1
- 11/17/25-Zone 2
- 11/24/25- Zone 1
- 12/1/25- Zone 2
- 12/8/25 Zone 1
- 12/15/25-Zone 2
- 12/22/25- Zone 1
- 12/29/25- Zone 2
This schedule is currently on Ewing Twp. website home page with automatic calendar reminders.
Public Works will continue to make rounds in January for both zones weekly until all leaves have been collected.
