Honoring Our Own: Memorial Brick Laying Ceremony
On Saturday, May 17, 2025, the Ewing Township Police Department, led by Chief Albert Rhodes, held its Memorial Brick Laying Ceremony at the Ewing Police Officers Memorial, paying tribute to dearly departed members of the department from the past two years. The solemn and moving event honored the memory of Sergeant Charles Cruser #39, Officer Dan Houghton #55, and Detective Sergeant Richard Hunt #47, whose bricks were added to the memorial in recognition of their service and sacrifice.
In a special moment, a plaque was also posthumously presented to the family of Dispatcher Laura Strouse, commemorating her 25 years of dedicated service to the department and the Ewing community.
Following the ceremony, an open house was held at the police department, where friends, family, and fellow officers gathered to share memories and celebrate the legacy of those we have lost.
Ewing Mayor Bert H. Steinmann and the Council extend their deepest gratitude to all who joined to honor these remarkable individuals and thank Chief Rhodes and the department for their thoughtful coordination of this meaningful tribute.
