Shovels & Smiles: Ewing Marks Arbor Day with New Trees
In celebration of Arbor Day, the Ewing Green Team and the Ewing Environmental Commission partnered to plant four new red maple trees along Upper Ferry Road.
“These trees replace ones we lost to disease and were chosen to match the beautiful red maples already thriving along this well-traveled route," said Mayor Bert H. Steinmann. “I’m grateful to the Green Team and Environmental Commission for all they do to keep Ewing green and growing.”
|
Council President Jennifer Keyes-Maloney noted that the plantings are another step toward Ewing earning the Tree City USA designation, an honor that recognizes a community’s commitment to effective urban forest management.
Before the planting, Green Team President Joanne Mullowney shared tree-planting tips for home gardeners. Township Administrator Aaron T. Watson, Environmental Commission Chairman Evan Crumiller, and members of both groups also took part in the planting effort.

Their courage, professionalism, and unwavering dedication to public safety embody the highest standards of service. This honor reflects not only their bravery but also the critical role first responders play in protecting our community.

Mayor Bert H. Steinmann also praised the firefighters, saying, "These firefighters represent the very best of Ewing. Their quick thinking, bravery, and dedication to duty make all of us proud. On behalf of our entire community, I thank them for their service."
Please join us in celebrating Captain Rowlands, Firefighter Steinmetz, and Firefighter Anderson on this well-deserved recognition!

Updated brush & Yard waste collection rules
Beginning in March, Public Works is collecting yard waste twice monthly by zone. Like our Leaf Collection schedule, residents in Zone 1 can expect brush collections the 1st and 3rd week of the month, and Residents in Zone 2 can expect brush collections the 2nd and 4th week. Place brush and yard trimmings at the curb on the Saturday or Sunday prior to your collection week. Crews may be on your street as early as Monday of your collection week. If you miss the pick up, we cannot circle back to your property until the next scheduled collection week.
How this works
Pickup will be organized by specific zones throughout the township.
Not sure what zone you are in?
Residents whose trash is picked up on Monday and Thursday are in Zone 1, and residents whose trash is picked up on Tuesday and Wednesday are in Zone 2.
Private streets that do not receive leaf collection due to HOA responsibilities are highlighted in yellow. The schedule will also be put into the Recycle Coach application.
Yard Waste Reminders: Grass clippings are now considered solid waste. Residents should bag grass clippings in regular trash bags and place them out for garbage pickup. Grass should not be mixed with other yard waste or placed in brown bags, as it will not be collected. Branches and other yard debris should be placed curbside on your designated collection day.
Second-quarter taxes are due
