Workhouse Rides
Saturday, March 15, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Howell Farm, 70 Woodens Lane, Hopewell Twp.
In bygone days, it wasn’t uncommon for a farm boy or girl to hitch a ride on the back of a big draft horse while it was being driven back to the barn after a day working in the fields.
During this program, kids 5 – 12 will learn the differences between draft, saddle and carriage horses when they climb aboard a fully harnessed workhorse for a ride down the lane…after, that is, they help farmers with barn chores like bedding stalls, filling water troughs, and making feed.

Experience the Majesty of Owls and Raptors, Mercer County Wildlife Center
Sunday March 16, 2025, 2 p.m.
The Stone Barn, Washington Crossing State Park, Titusville, NJ
Join us for an unforgettable afternoon with the Mercer County Wildlife Center as they bring live owls and raptors to Washington Crossing State Park! This interactive presentation offers a rare opportunity to see these incredible birds up close while learning about their behaviors, habitats, and the conservation efforts that help protect them. The Mercer County Wildlife Center is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of native wildlife. As human development expands along the East Coast, natural habitats continue to shrink, leading to increased human-wildlife encounters and a greater risk of injury to these animals. The Center provides critical medical care and temporary refuge for injured, ill, and displaced birds, mammals, and reptiles, ensuring they have the best chance to return to the wild.
Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to connect with these amazing birds! This event is free and open to the public. Registration is required as the space is limited. For more information, visit: https://shorturl.at/i1cyc

Ewing Arts Commission’s Featured Artist Program presents Janet McLaughlin
“Serendipity: the occurrence of events by chance” Janet McLaughlin is one of the three women, all born 5 years apart, who lived, played, learned, grew up in Ewing, then eventually moved away. Now, sixty years later, by chance, the three live near each other and are drawn together by their love of art. The other two friends, Linda Robinson and Ellen Wylie Smith, were the Ewing Arts Commission’s (EAC’s) Featured Artists for the month of January with their show “Serendipity Part 1.”
Janet’s “Serendipity Part 2” show is featured for the month of March and will also be on display during April. All three artists still have work on display as part of EAC’s “Love…Is All We Need” group show. Most works will be available for purchase with 10% of all proceeds going to EASEL, Ewing’s animal shelter.
The Ewing Municipal Building is located at 2 Jake Garzio Drive, Ewing, NJ 08628. Art may be viewed when the Municipal Building is open: Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
