Celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day will be observed on Monday, January 20, with various local events honoring his legacy. These celebrations focus on themes of unity, tolerance, and service, reflecting the values Dr. King championed. To inspire learning about his impact and encourage community involvement, we’ve compiled a list of events dedicated to commemorating his life and work.

MLK Day Community Gathering + Art Making Arts Council of Princeton, Princeton A free art-making workshop will be accompanied by a food drive and community gathering. Artist Tamara Torres will talk about how to use art to express emotions; after drawing you will year your paper and use the pieces to create a new collage that represents a different perspective. The Historical Society of Princeton and the Witherspoon-Jackson Historical and Cultural Society will hold activities. Kids will get a coloring book to color, read through short stories, and learn more about how Princeton came to be the place it is today.

Many gardeners, flower enthusiasts, and backyard farmers dread the age-old chore of getting rid of weeds. Tama Matsuoka Wong offers a refreshing perspective on these so-called undesirable plants: manage them and transform them into delicious food, teas, and even garden structures. In other words, reap their abundance.
Tama Matsuoka Wong is a forager, wild farmer, and "meadow doctor" based in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. She is the author of the James Beard-nominated cookbook Foraged Flavor (2012) and Into the Weeds: How to Garden Like a Forager.

The Youth Orchestra of Central Jersey (YOCJ) is pleased to announce its 2025 concert and performance schedule. Kicking off the year will be the Winter Large Ensemble Concert on Sunday, January 19 with YOCJ’s Symphonic Orchestra featuring soloist Patrick Williams, associate principal flutist of The Philadelphia Orchestra. There are two performances - 3 and 8 pm.
The large ensemble concerts will be held at Kendall Hall, TCNJ as follows. Tickets are available via TCNJ Center for the Arts and are valid for both concerts.

The Art of Fly Tying, The Watershed

The Art of Fly Tying Though it can be intimidating to tie your own flies, catching a fish on a fly that you tied yourself is exciting and very satisfying! This series of Tuesday night fly tying sessions will focus on tying variety of trout fishing flies and how to fish them. The instructors and materials are provided by the Ernest Schwiebert Chapter of Trout Unlimited. If you have your own tying tools, we encourage you to bring them. We will supply tying equipment for those who need it.
Please register for each session you plan to attend. In the event of bad weather- this event may be cancelled. If that happens any fees collected will be refunded to your original method of payment.
