Dear Ewing Community,
It gives me great pleasure to announce that Ewing Council tonight approved a resolution awarding a contract for the reconstruction of our Senior and Community Center, details below.
Also, last week, we proudly hosted the Ewing Township Fire Department - Station 30 Swearing-In Ceremony at Town Hall. It was an honor to administer the Oaths of Office and share in the pride and celebration of our dedicated firefighters. Congratulations to all who were elevated and sworn in.
You may have noticed recently a number of ribbon-cutting ceremonies. Here at town hall, we are happy to support the businesses that make Ewing thrive. If you’re a local business owner planning a grand opening or ribbon-cutting ceremony, we’d love to celebrate with you. Read more in the Ewing Spotlight section.
A reminder for the holiday season: If you’re buying or selling through online marketplaces, take advantage of the Ewing Police Department’s Safe Exchange Location. Situated in the lower-level parking lot at Town Hall, 2 Jake Garzio Drive, the area is monitored 24/7 by video surveillance, ensuring a safe and secure meeting point.
Finally, as always, we encourage you to shop local and support Ewing’s small businesses. They’re the backbone of our community, and your support means the world. Whether you’re finding gifts or simply enjoying festive events, let’s make this season one to remember.
Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead!
Warm regards, Mayor Bert H. Steinmann

BREAKING NEWS:
Ewing Township Council Approves Contract for Reconstruction of Senior and Community Center
At their Dec. 16, 2024 special meeting, the Ewing Township Council in a 4-1 vote approved a resolution awarding a $34 million contract to Benjamin R. Harvey Co. for the reconstruction of the Ewing Senior and Community Center (ESCC). The decision marks a major milestone in the Township’s commitment to restoring a vital community hub that was tragically lost to a fire on Sept. 30, 2022.
Following a competitive bidding process, Benjamin R. Harvey Co. emerged as the lowest responsible bidder among seven firms. The company’s proposal met all technical and financial requirements, earning the recommendation of the Township’s architects and engineers.
“This is an important step forward for Ewing,” said Mayor Bert H. Steinmann. “The Senior and Community Center has been a cornerstone of our town, and its loss was deeply felt. Today’s vote brings us closer to rebuilding a space that will serve generations to come.”
The project is funded through the Township’s Capital Fund as part of Ordinance 2024-08, with the Chief Financial Officer confirming the availability of funds. The reconstruction will bring a modern, accessible facility to Ewing, designed to meet the needs of residents of all ages.
The new ESCC will replace the original structure, which had long been a gathering place for seniors, families, and local organizations. The reconstruction project underscores Ewing’s dedication to fostering community engagement and enhancing quality of life for its residents.
Mayor Steinmann and the Council expressed their gratitude to all who participated in the bidding process and reaffirmed their commitment to transparency and accountability throughout the project’s development.
For updates on the reconstruction of the ESCC and other Township initiatives, visit Ewing Township’s website.
