Giving Tuesday
Dear Ewing Community,
On this Giving Tuesday, I encourage everyone in Ewing to reflect on the ways we can come together to support our neighbors and strengthen our community. Whether by donating to a local cause, volunteering your time, or lending your skills to an agency in need, your generosity can make a world of difference.
From food drives to holiday boutiques and countless other opportunities, there are so many ways to give back, and in this edition of Ewing Insights, you'll find several agencies specifically reaching out for help. Let’s embody the spirit of giving and show why Ewing is such a compassionate and caring community.
Additionally, we are looking for dedicated residents to apply for open seats on various township boards and commissions. Whether you’re passionate about planning, environmental issues, or community development, your voice and expertise can help shape the future of our community. I encourage you to visit our website to learn how to apply for a seat.
Thank you for all you do to uplift others and make Ewing a better place!
Best, Mayor Bert H. Steinmann

Ewing receives FY25 Municipal Aid Grant for Bull Run Road improvements
Ewing Township has been awarded $436,384 in FY25 Municipal Aid Grants from the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) to fund critical improvements to Bull Run Road. This grant is part of a broader $150 million statewide initiative aimed at enhancing local infrastructure.
Mercer County municipalities collectively received over $6.5 million for transportation projects, with funding prioritizing pedestrian safety and road improvements. Nearly 42% of the allocations support communities with Complete Streets policies, and an additional $22.2 million was directed toward projects meeting equity criteria benefiting low-income and minority populations.
“This funding is a big win for Ewing Township. Improving Bull Run Road will not only enhance safety but also make travel smoother for everyone in our community," said Mayor Bert Steinmann. "We’re grateful to the NJDOT and the Murphy Administration for recognizing the importance of investing in local infrastructure. These types of grants make a real difference in the quality of life for our residents, and we look forward to getting this project underway.”
Stay tuned for updates as the Bull Run Road project progresses.

Opening Reception Thursday, Dec. 5 at 6 p.m.
In his own words: I was born in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico. When, I was five years old my family decided to leave Puerto Rico and moved to Trenton, NJ. When I was 12 years my parents enrolled me in a program called FOCUS-Hispanic Community Development Inc. The program introduces children to various extra-curricular activities during their after-school program. Immediately, I was interested in their art program. They taught me about different types of art medium. For example, abstract painting, drawing and screen paintings.
|
As an adult, I rediscovered my passion for painting when I traveled to Puerto Rico. I went to several festivals that had exhibits that included handmade craft. When I returned back home, I was on fire. I started using plywood to create different images on canvas, and objects made of wood. Creating custom wood art work with acrylic paints and epoxy.
Exhibition Dates: Dec. 5-30, 2024 Reception Date: Thursday, Dec. 5, 2024, 6 p.m. Location: Ewing Municipal Building, upper level Cost: Free and open to the public
