Dear Ewing Community,
This week brings several updates and reminders for our community. First, we encourage you to stay informed about Mercer County’s proposal for a Calhoun Street bypass. A virtual Public Information Center is scheduled for tonight, Oct. 22, where you can learn more about the proposal. See links below. Also, in less than two weeks from now our new leaf vacuum truck begins making the rounds. Read ahead for the pickup schedule. Looking ahead, Early Voting in New Jersey starts this Saturday, Oct. 26 at seven locations throughout Mercer County. I encourage you to take advantage of this convenience.
Remember to join us for Trunk or Treat at TCNJ on October 26! If you're unable to sponsor a trunk, we’d appreciate candy donations—drop-off locations are listed on the flyer.
Thank you for your continued support. See you around town.
Best, Mayor Bert H. Steinmann

This Fall: New Leaf Collection Guidelines in Effect
Our new leaf vacuum makes its debut starting Monday, Oct. 28!
The debut of Ewing’s new leaf vacuum truck is just weeks away, launching officially on Monday, Oct. 28! In the meantime, you can still bag leaves if you prefer. With early leaf fall due to the drought, we understand the mess can be frustrating. Whenever possible, let leaves decompose naturally—they benefit the environment! If your street lacks curbs, place leaves within 6 feet of the road’s edge for collection. Thanks for your cooperation!
Residents whose trash is picked up on Monday or Thursday are in Zone 1.
Residents whose trash is picked up on Tuesday or Wednesday are in Zone 2.
Reminder: Brush collection suspended from Nov.-Feb.
Curbside brush pickup is suspended during leaf pickup season -- November and December -- and also in January and February. Ewing Township has moved the Brush Drop-Off Convenience Center to its permanent location at 100 Beakes St., Ewing, NJ 08638. (Access from Prospect Street to Dover Avenue end of street).
The drop-off site is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturdays, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. We look forward to serving you!

Be Deer and Bear Aware this Autumn Season
We share information from the NJ DEP Division of Fish and Wildlife, and the NJ DOT about taking special care this autumn with regard to two of NJ’s most notable wildlife species, the black bear and the white-tailed deer.
White-tailed Deer (Odocoileus virginianus)
First, please be extra vigilant on roadways this fall as the annual rut, or mating season, for white-tailed deer gets underway and daylight is limited during peak commuting hours, At this time of year, deer are more likely to suddenly enter roadways as bucks pursue does, increasing the risk for drivers to stop suddenly or be involved in collisions.
