Happy New Year from Liberty State Park! 2026 marks a pivotal moment for both the park and the nation. Liberty State Park was established in 1976 as New Jersey’s “bicentennial gift to the nation.” Fifty years later, the park is undergoing a major revitalization as outlined in the Liberty State Park Master Plan released in August.
FIFA Fan Festival at Liberty State Park
The FIFA World Cup 26™ is coming to the United States this summer, with eight matches taking place at MetLife Stadium. Liberty State Park will host the FIFA Fan Festival™, an exciting opportunity to gather to watch World Cup matches, enjoy diverse food offering from the NYNJ region and experience entertainment and programming. Fans from across the New Jersey and New York region, as well as visiting soccer fans from around the world will share in the excitement of the FIFA World Cup.

How will FIFA Fan Festival affect my visit to Liberty State Park?
Liberty State Park will host the FIFA Fan Festival from June 11 to July 19. During this time, vehicular access to Liberty State Park and its amenities will be affected by this special event. Below is a snapshot of anticipated impacts. Information will be updated in the coming months.
🚴 Liberty State Park will remain open for passive recreation, including walking, running and cycling. 🧺 Picnicking will be limited. Areas for picnicking will be announced in advance. 🚶♂️ Expect access to the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway to be limited. 🌿 Nature and history interpretive programs will continue. 🌳 Grassy areas in the center of the park will be limited to visitors beginning as early as May 1 to accommodate setup for FIFA Fan Festival. 🚌 Beginning in June, visitors should plan to use mass transit or walk into the park because parking lots will be limited or closed. 🧺 Group picnic reservations will be paused from May through July at the park’s Picnic Pavilions and the Freedom Way Picnic Area, and from June through July at the Pesin Picnic Area. Reservations for the 2026 season will begin being accepted at 8 a.m. Monday, Jan. 12. 🚣 The public boat ramp on Morris Pesin Drive will be closed for the duration of the FIFA Fan Festival. Specific closure dates will be announced in advance.
