Shinrin Yoku Guided Meditation Walk in Nature with Roni Detrick, this guided nature connection walk incorporates the Japanese practice of Shinrin-Yoku, which translates as “forest bathing” or “nature immersion”. This practice reduces stress and promotes health and wellbeing through contact with nature using sensory awareness and mindfulness activities. Shinrin-Yoku walks have been shown to reduce stress, lower blood pressure, elevate mood, boost the immune system and improve sleep. Gather for the walk at the General Store across from the parking lot. Wear appropriate attire for weather. This is one in a series of three Spring walks.

Photograph and Learn at this unique Pinelands landmark with award winning photographer, Richard Lewis. Whitesbog was an early 20th-century agricultural community. In the early 1900s, it was the largest cranberry farm in New Jersey, and nationally known as the leader in the cranberry industry. It was also where the blueberry was cultivated by Elizabeth White. Whitesbog is now part of Brendan T. Byrne State Forest and includes a historic village and the surrounding 3,000 acres of beautiful Pine Barrens bogs and forests. 
We will start our day photographing the sunrise from those beautiful bogs and continue throughout the morning. Afterwards we will photograph some of the buildings including some of the abandoned and historic buildings in Whitesbog Village, including several that are off limits to the public. Our day will also include some classroom instruction and review of the images we made.

(pre-teen – adult (pre-teen – adult).  Participants will learn how to obtain information and hints from the Geocaching.com website, on the location of about a dozen geocache sites in the park. They will then use handheld GPS devices to go out and find as many caches as possible. Once a cache is found, participants typically will sign in on the log contained within and then take an object from the cache box after leaving a trinket for subsequent geocachers. Participants should bring a pocket full of trinkets to exchange when they locate caches. Trinkets can include small toys and balls, plastic jewelry, pens, pencils, scratch pads, patches, action figures, coins, etc. A limited number of GPS navigation devices will be made available to participants.

Adults/Children age 10 and up.Come hike a 1-mile stretch of the Appalachian Trail to an observation platform where we'll watch the sun set in the west while the nearly-full moon rises in the eastern sky. This hike is moderately strenuous with some steep portions and a rocky, uneven trail surface. Sturdy, closed-toe shoes are a must, and you might want to bring water and a snack to enjoy as you watch the sunset. We'll return to our cars by moonlight via an easier route. Inclement weather may cancel this program.
