NH’s new, first of its kind, voluntary paid family and medical leave program is available to employers and workers. It provides partial wage replacement for up to six weeks per year for a worker to provide care for a family member like a spouse, parent or child; to spend time with a newborn; or to take care of one’s self when dealing with a non-work related illness or injury. Employers can purchase this coverage for their workers at any time during the year. Individual workers lacking this coverage from their employer can purchase it on their own during the annual open enrollment period December-January. If you work in NH and don’t know whether you have this coverage, ask your employer. If they don’t provide this coverage ask them, why not. To learn more, visit paidleave.nh.gov.

New Hampshire Alliance for Healthy Aging (NHAHA) Advocacy Resources and Upcoming Listening Session
Improve your advocacy skills. The updated NHAHA Advocacy web page highlights past legislative successes and other links for advocates. Visit Civic Empowerment or Ways to Advocate to investigate the opportunities to hone your advocacy skills or share your advocacy story. NHAHA Advocacy partners with New Futures to advance healthy aging policy in New Hampshire. Building on past successes, the advocacy priorities for 2024-2029 will continue to strengthen and enhance our advocacy infrastructure and promote policies that improve the health and well-being of all of us as we age in New Hampshire.
Express your ideas for the upcoming legislative session. The success of AHA Advocacy depends on the collective voice of our members. We rely on hearing from you to inform and target our advocacy. Do you have policy ideas that would advance healthy aging in New Hampshire? Do you have concerns about specific areas such as caregiving, long term supports and services, or the workforce? Have you experienced problems accessing housing, transportation, food, medical or home care services? We are listening.
Feel free to contact Martha McLeod or Judith Jones.
