Celebrate 10 years of the Missouri River Outdoor Expo
 The 10th anniversary Missouri River Outdoor Expo is coming to Ponca State Park Sept. 20-21.
With over 85 hands-on activities featuring outdoor education, sports and recreation, there is something for everyone to touch, see and do. This free event draws more than 50,000 people a year, making it the largest outdoor expo in the Midwest.

Small bore silhouette championships set for Sept. 27
The annual Nebraska High School Small-bore Silhouette Championships will be held Sept. 27 at the Pressey Wildlife Management Area (WMA) in Custer County.
This free competition is open to Nebraska high, junior high and middle school students who have received a certificate verifying completion of a hunter education program. Team competition is comprised of four-person teams in school, 4-H, and open categories. Shooters are not required to compete in teams.

Learn about insects
at Rock Creek Station on Sept. 20
Come check out the insects of the night at Rock Creek Station State Historical Park on Sept. 20. See naturalists use a black light to attract insects after dark, then observe and learn about them. Naturalists will also lead a short hike to check out more creatures of the night. The event runs from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public. A park entry permit is required. More information is available online.
The sunrises and sunsets of hunting season
 During the Nebraska hunting seasons, Game and Parks Public Information Officer Greg Wagner loves nothing more than watching the sun rise or set. Reel ‘em in Roadtrip: Labor Day
Nebraska Game and Parks Commissioner Lynn Berggren has spent this summer on a Nebraska fishing tour and, and he and friends spent Labor Day Weekend at Lake McConaughy and Johnson Lake. Fishing was slow, but they still met some success. Check out his blog to see what they caught.
