As a past Nebraska turkey permit purchaser, we wanted to make you aware of recent changes regarding Nebraska’s Spring Turkey season.
In a proactive effort to prevent the potential for spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), we are suspending the sale of nonresident spring turkey hunting permits and temporarily closing state park lodging reservations.
This is being done by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission in coordination with Gov. Pete Ricketts Executive Order No. 20-11 to help protect the health of Nebraskans by discouraging unnecessary travel.
If you have already purchased a permit, you will still be able to hunt in Nebraska this season, but will not be able to purchase additional permits. Since we know many states and individuals are limiting travel, should you not be able to follow-through on your hunting plans this season, we will offer a full refund of your permit/stamp purchase.
Nonresidents with purchased, but unfilled, Nebraska turkey permits will be contacted by email or U.S. mail in the next week with additional information about this option.
To protect our customers and staff, we have closed all our offices and activity centers where individuals would congregate. Additionally, Nebraska State Park cabins and lodging will be temporarily closed April 1 to 30. Campgrounds will remain open for the time being; Tent camping and RV camping are available and will be evaluated regularly, following state and federal directives as well as those of local health departments. All park areas remain open for day use.
You can keep up to date on all cancellations, postponements and closures for Nebraska Game and Parks at OutdoorNebraska.org/HealthInfo.
We sincerely appreciate your interest in hunting Nebraska and hope you are able to schedule a future trip to enjoy the best-in-the-nation turkey hunting Nebraska offers. Our fall turkey season runs Sept. 15 through January 31, 2021; we hope to see you back this fall or next spring chasing wild turkeys in Nebraska.
