Buffalo Bill Presentation Set for Sept. 6 at Fort Kearny SHP

LINCOLN – Learn about Buffalo Bill’s connections to Fort Kearny at a presentation Sept. 6 at Fort Kearny State Historical Park (SHP).

The program – Buffalo Bill’s Nebraska: The Land That Made the Legend – will be presented by author and historian Jeff Barnes at 1 p.m. It is sponsored by Humanities Nebraska.

Barnes is the author of “The Great Plains Guide to Buffalo Bill.” The book will be available for sale and signing at the presentation.

William F. “Buffalo Bill” Cody was a former scout, bison hunter and showman who built a home called Scout’s Rest Ranch in North Platte in 1886. The home is now Buffalo Bill Ranch SHP.

Fort Kearny SHP is located 5 miles southeast of Kearney in Kearney County. A park entry permit is required.
