Happy New Year and Welcome to the January Get Home Safe Newsletter!
We’ve all been there. Maybe it’s a busy time of year or your team is a little shorthanded. There are many reasons someone might be feeling stress at work.
Stress not only impacts employee well-being, but it also leads to lapses in safety and productivity. Supporting your team with stress management techniques can lead to fewer accidents, better focus and an overall happier place to work.
This month, we have some tips and ideas for managing stress at work.

Stress management ideas to share with your employees
-
Take care of yourself: Getting enough sleep, regular physical activity and healthy foods can improve your emotional well-being. A quick walk outside is a great place to start.
-
Break down big problems: Take jobs one step at a time and break big problems into smaller parts, so they are manageable.
-
Do something you enjoy: Doing something you enjoy is a natural way to relieve stress and "switch off" from work. Consider taking a walk in nature or grabbing lunch with a friend.
-
Practice mindfulness or deep breathing: Meditation can reduce the effects of stress, anxiety, and other related problems. Take a moment to pause, breathe, and notice what’s around you.
-
Reach out: If managing stress on your own is difficult, seek help from a doctor or mental health professional. Your organization may offer an Employee Assistance Program or other mental well-being resources—encourage employees to take advantage of these programs for support when they need it. For immediate help, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline is available 24/7 by calling or texting 988.
Use any or all of the resources below to help everyone in your organization Get Home Safe. We have a new video testimonial, poster, and employee message for everyone who might benefit.
